300 participants from all around the Baltic Sea and beyond attended the Interreg Baltic Sea Region Programme Conference to talk about project achievements in making the Baltic Sea region more innovative, accessible and sustainable.
COMBINE participated in one of the sixteen parallel sessions dedicated to different thematic fields that allowed to learn about tangible project and project platform results that bring positive developments to the region. The project results were discussed at the event, though it was stated that "together and beyond borders we can do more", as Susanne Scherrer, Director of the Managing Authority / Joint Secretariat of Interreg Baltic Sea Region concluded, encouraging all conference participants to make everybody invest in transnational cooperation.
The meeting was followed by very positive news the next day: nine extension stage projects have been approved by the Monitoring Committee and EMMA Extension is one of them (www.project-emma.eu). COMBINE project, aiming at strengthening combined transport in the Baltic Sea Region, has some common project partners with project EMMA, which concentrated on enhancing inland waterway transport in the Baltic Sea Region. The project EMMA Extension strives to further enhance freight mobility and logistics in the Baltic Sea region.
Next, the COMBINE team will participate in the 10th Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region that will be held on the 12. – 13. of June in Gdansk. The 10th jubilee Annual Forum concludes main achievements of the Strategy, but also paves the way for smarter, more efficient and better coordinated actions aiming at prosperous future for the Baltic Sea Region.
